Plot synopsis:

A monkey-tailed boy named Son Goku is found by an old martial arts expert and raised as his grandson. One day, during a full moon, Goku transforms into a giant ape and accidentally kills his adopted grandfather, but later has no recollection of it. Several years later, Bulma, on a quest to retrieve the seven Dragon Balls and have her wish granted by the dragon that will appear, meets Goku, now living alone with the four-star Dragon Ball that he treats as his dead grandfather. Goku decides to accompany Bulma on her quest, and along the way, meets and befriends many martial artists, undergoes rigorous martial arts training regimes and educational programs, and faces various challengers and villains

Main characters:

Son Goku
Goku is first seen as a young boy living in the wilderness, alone after his caretaker Gohan died. He is seemingly normal except for his ignorance of the world (which is demonstrated numerous times often in humorous ways like when he first met Bulma he destroyed her car thinking it was a monster) , his great strength, and his tail.

Goku is known for his cheerful, energetic personality, love of competition (specifically sport fighting) and eating. He has remarkable intuition at seeing the good in others in spite of their actions, though his capacity for forgiving his enemies has occasionally been criticized as excessive. His staggering power is simultaneously reined in and enhanced by his fierce loyalty and morality. He has a simple, practical view of the world and is somewhat naive to the world around him. Because of this, many characters incorrectly assume him to be somewhat stupid, although once he has a basic understanding of things he learns very quickly. His most remarkable ability is his will to succeed, pushing himself beyond his capabilities, and never giving up even when the odds are stacked against him.


Bulma (Buruma)
Bulma is the daughter of Dr. Briefs the founder of Capsule Corp, a fictional corporation that creates the special capsules many characters in the series use to store objects of basically any size.Being the daughter of a brilliant scientist, Bulma is also a scientist and inventor. Bulma is most credited for inventing the Dragon Radar, a device that is specifically designed to detect the signal emitted by the Dragon Balls in the series.

Bulma at first is the identical to the image of a pampered city girl for most of the series; arrogant and adventurous, but afraid of being alone. Bulma is most recognized for her fierce determination to get what she wants, and can be viewed as reckless in those quests. Bulma is well known for her intellectual approach to situations. Throughout the series, Bulma goes through many life-threatening situations and is often a damsel-in-distress, needing the protection of Goku and the others. However is also prone to take advantage of them

Master Roshi (Muten Roshi Kame Sennin)
The "Turtle Immortal" (or "Turtle Hermit") is an ancient and wise martial arts master. Though he seems frail, he is a mighty warrior, having trained Grandpa Gohan, Ox King, Son Goku, and others. He lives in a shack, the Kame House, on a small isolated island. He is a stock character, as he is both the archetypal wise old man and dirty old man. He is bald, with a thick van dyke beard and wears sunglasses. Roshi wears beach clothes or martial arts suits and a turtle shell on his back. He usually wields a walking stick

Roshi is notorious for his perverted actions throughout the series and is constantly watching young women on television exercise shows in his spare time or looking at pornographic magazines. Roshi frequently flirts with or harasses women, often Bulma. He is usually comically beaten for these acts. Still, he is depicted to be a very wise and gentle person, who loves life and its simple pleasures, but is willing to die if necessary.
