Plot synopsis:

Shinichi Kudo, 17-year-old high school student, while investigating a blackmail case, is attacked by two members of the Black Organization and is given a newly-developed drug that is supposed to kill him. However, due to a rare and generally unknown side effect, the drug doesn't kill him, but transforms his body into that of an seven-year-old grade schooler. In order to hide his identity and investigate the whereabouts of the Black Organization, he adopts the pseudonym Conan Edogawa, moves in with his childhood friend and crush Ran Mori, and enrolls in elementary school. He continues investigating criminal cases with Rachel and her inept private investigator father, Kogoro Mori. Shinichi also performs investigations through the Junior Detective League (Shonen Tantei-dan), a group he forms with his friends at the elementary school.

Shinichi Kudo (Kudo Shinichi)
He was born to Yusaku and Yukiko Kudo, mystery writer and former movie star respectively. He was born on the 4th of May, but he repeatedly forgets his birthday every year. He is a genius savant, and even from a young age, was very intuitive and observant. Due to the influence of his father he has long been an incessant and persistent reader, especially of mystery novels. he finished the entire collection of mystery novels in his elementary school library during his elementary school years. Also, Yusaku started to bring young Shinichi to crime scenes until he was in sixth grade. This has caused him to have a love of crime investigation.

At the beginning of the series, Jimmy is a 17-year old student at Teitan High School. He is already a well-known detective who closed many difficult cases, and known as the savior of the police force.


Ran Mori (Mori Ran
She was born on October. Ran is a childhood friend and the main romantic interest of Shinichi Kudo and the daughter of private detective Kogoro Mori and Eri Kisaki, a lawyer. Her parents separated when she was six and one of her biggest goals is to get them back together.

Ran is the captain of the karate team of Teitan High School and therefore is very powerful as demonstrated when she wins her Regional Championship. Besides that, she is also very talented and very lucky in gambling. She is so lucky that she amazingly wins in all of the gambling games she ever played.
